【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameansofmonitoringthesulfurlevelofvariouspetroleumproductsandadditives.Thisknowledgecanbeusedtopredictperformance,handling,orprocessingproperties.Insomecasesthepresenceofsulfurcomponentsisbeneficialtotheproductandmonitoringthedepletionofsulfurcompoundsprovidesusefulinformation.Inothercasesthepresenceofsulfurcompoundsisdetrimentaltotheprocessingoruseoftheproduct.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftotalsulfurinliquidpetroleumproductsinconcentrationsfrom0.01to0.4mass%(Note1).AspecialsulfateanalysisprocedureisdescribedinAnnexA1thatpermitsthedeterminationofsulfurinconcentrationsaslowas5mg/kg.Note18212;ThecomparablelampmethodforthedeterminationofsulfurinliquefiedpetroleumgasisdescribedinTestMethodD2784.Forthedeterminationofsulfurinheavierpetroleumproductsthatcannotbeburnedinalamp,seethebombmethod(TestMethodD129)thequartztubemethod(IP63),orthehigh-temperaturemethod(TestMethodD1552).1.2Thedirectburningprocedure(Section9)isapplicabletotheanalysisofsuchmaterialsasgasoline,kerosine,naphtha,andotherliquidsthatcanbeburnedcompletelyinawicklamp.Theblendingprocedure(Section10)isapplicabletotheanalysisofgasoilsanddistillatefueloils,naphthenicacids,alkylphenols,highsulfurcontentpetroleumproducts,andmanyothermaterialsthatcannotbeburnedsatisfactorilybythedirectburningprocedure.1.3Phosphoruscompoundsnormallypresentincommercialgasolinedonotinterfere.Acorrectionisgivenforthesmallamountofacidresultingfromthecombustionoftheleadanti-knockfluidsingasolines.Appreciableconcentrationsofacid-formingorbase-formingelementsfromothersourcesinterferewhenthetitrationprocedureisemployedsincenocorrectionisprovidedinthesecases.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
