【摘要】:Thepurposeofthisclassificationistostandardizethenamingofpeatmaterialssothatthepeat-producercanbetteridentifytheproductandthepeat-consumerbetterselectpeatmaterialstomeetrequirements.Thissystemmayalsobeusedforpeatresourceevaluations,environmentalimpactreports,andpreliminaryengineeringstudies.Theparametersselectedforuseinthisclassificationareoneswhichhavebeendeterminedtorelatetotheagricultural/horticultural,geotechnical,andenergyusesofpeats.Note18212;Thequalityoftheresultsproducedbythisstandardisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingit,andthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting/sampling/inspection/andthelike.UsersofthisstandardarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnotinitselfassurereliabletesting.Reliabletestingdependsonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthosefactors.1.1Thisclassificationisasystemforsubdividingandassigningnomenclaturetopeatsamplesthroughlaboratorytests.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
