【摘要】:Microindentationhardnesstestingprovidesameasureofthehardnessofthemicrostructuralconstituentsofaporousmaterial.Itindicatesthehardnessthematerialwouldhaveiftherewerenoporespresentandthematerialwastestedusingmacroindentationhardnessmethods.Microindentationhardnesstestsallowtheevaluationofspecificphases,microstructuralconstituents,andregionsorgradientstoosmallformacroindentationhardnesstesting.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthemicroindentationhardnessofpowdermetallurgy(PM)materials.Thetestmethoddiffersfromtheapproachusedforpore-freematerialsintermsoftheprecautionsrequiredtodealwiththeporosity.1.2Amethodforconvertingthedirectlymeasuredindentationlengthstootherhardnessscales,forexample,HRCisdescribedinAppendixX1.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
