【摘要】:1.1Thesepracticescoverthevisualstress-gradingprinciplesapplicabletostructuralwoodmembersofnonrectangularshape,astypicallyusedinlogbuildings.ThesepracticesaremeanttosupplementtheASTMstandardslistedinSection,whichcoverstress-gradingofsawnlumberandroundtimbers.Piecescoveredbythesepracticesmayalsobeusedinbuildingtypesotherthanlogbuildings.1.2Thegradingprovisionsusedasillustrationshereinarenotintendedtoestablishgradesforpurchase,butrathertoshowhowstress-gradingprinciplesareappliedtomembersusedinlogbuildings.Detailedgradingrulesforcommercialstressgradeswhichserveaspurchasespecificationsareestablishedandpublishedbyagenciesthatformulateandmaintainsuchrulesandoperateinspectionfacilitiescoveringthevariousspecies.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
